How To Setup VPN on ASUS (Asuswrt)

Easily configure WorldVPN on your ASUS router running stock Asuswrt or Asuswrt-Merlin firmware. Select your protocol below to get started.

Prerequisites:

Ensure your ASUS router supports WireGuard VPN (available in Asuswrt 388.x builds and above, or Asuswrt-Merlin). Download the WireGuard configuration file (.conf) from the WorldVPN client area.

Access VPN Client Settings

  • Log in to your ASUS router dashboard (typically at 192.168.50.1 or router.asus.com).
  • On the left sidebar, scroll down to the Advanced Settings block and select VPN.
  • Select the VPN Client tab (or VPN Director depending on model).

Import WireGuard Configuration

  • Click Add Profile and choose the WireGuard tab.
  • Set Description as WorldVPN_WG.
  • Click Upload File and select your downloaded WorldVPN WireGuard .conf file. Click OK.

Enable VPN Connection

  • Locate the WorldVPN_WG profile under the VPN Client list.
  • Click the Activate button (represented by a connection trigger switch or play icon). A green checkmark will verify connection status.
